The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The renowned video game developer died after his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a highway in LA on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
