Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting With the Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic since the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, placing him third all-time after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of the series," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
