The Streaming Giant Chooses Ideal Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the real showdown won’t unfold until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bentham. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and cartoon version.
Escola will work alongside multiple recently announced actors who will portray the group to life, including head the main antagonist, portrayed by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Even though the role is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a major departure in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the part. In addition to their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
