Jurgen Klopp admits a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side in England. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and the effect for the team. The forward died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling recently.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A profound tragedy for all the boys also. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is challenging. Impossible.”
