Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
