Explosions and Low-Altitude Planes Reported in Venezuelan Capital City Caracas

Witness testimonies emerged of multiple blasts and the sound of low-flying planes in Caracas in the pre-dawn hours of the weekend. This situation has led to claims from Venezuela's government and calls for diplomatic action.

Caracas Condemns US of Attack

The socialist regime has condemned the Washington of an act of "imperialist aggression," alleging that ex- President Trump supposedly authorized attacks against the South American country. In an official statement, the authorities asserted that strikes had targeted the capital and several other states: Miranda state, La Guaira, and Aragua state.

"Our sole aim of this aggression is to take control of Venezuela's natural resources, in particular its crude oil and minerals," the statement declared.

The government called on the global community to condemn the actions, which it described a "blatant breach of global law" that placed millions of civilians in peril.

Reports of Blasts and Military Sites Hit

Eyewitnesses reported experiencing approximately several powerful blasts around 2:00 AM in the morning. Residents in various districts allegedly hurried into the open.

"Everything shook. It was frightening. We experienced explosions and planes in the sky," stated one resident.

Black smoke was observed billowing from two military installations in the city: the La Carlota airbase military airfield and the Fuerte Tiuna base compound, where leader Maduro is thought to live.

Global Reaction

The leader of neighboring Colombia, Gustavo Petro, claimed on X that "Currently they are bombing Caracas... attacking it with rockets." He called for an swift emergency session of the UN Security Council.

The Colombian government, which recently became a member of the Security Council, stated it would activate defense protocols at its shared border with Venezuela.

Preceding Events

These alleged strikes are preceded by a prolonged military buildup by the United States against the Venezuelan regime. Beginning in last summer, authorities reported a significant American military presence off Venezuela's Caribbean coast and a number of strikes on ships linked to illegal activities.

Venezuela's government has declared "the implementation of external disturbance" and commanded all national defence protocols to be implemented. It has also summoned its citizens to take to the streets and "reject this foreign attack."

American officials and the Pentagon did not publicly responded to requests for comment regarding the events.
