Brian Eno Urges Backing to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The track features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was noted for its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
