Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

Stateside performer Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by media reports.

"He never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a message.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
