Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
